2020 Dates Announced:

For those of you who might be new to this and thinking about joining us in 2020, there are no sign up fees, committees etc. It is organized with help from the team at North Sails and affiliated Yacht Club's. The idea is to 'piggy back' off existing events (apart from our standalone Squadron Nationals) and create a series that is a mostly 'Corinthian' Class, where family and friends get a taste of Grand Prix style Racing.

We have done our best to avoid clashes while also avoiding July and August due to J Cup, Cork Week, Cowes Week, Dartmouth, Summer Holidays etc.

May will be a busy month and we will be kicking the year off at the Royal Southern May Regatta, while the Warsash Spring Series and RORC Easter Regattas that precede our first event make complete sense for some pre-season regatta training. Next up will be the RORC Vice Admirals Cup where we will again cram all the action into a weekend (other classes might do the Friday as well) and to end the month where we will take the fleet out of the Solent to the International Paints Poole Regatta. For the Poole event instead of racing locally on the last day, we are looking to run a passage race back home (Bank Holiday Monday). The next event will be the RORC IRC Nationals in June, where we will again be hoping that a P40 can be crowned IRC National Champion, as Stuart Sawyer's team emphatically did on the J122 Black Dog earlier this year. As mentioned we have intentionally kept July and August quiet, while the season will end with two events in September. The Royal Yacht Squadron P40 Nationals will again be held in September and we are hoping for an awesome turnout here... as well as another great evening on the Saturday, while the season will finish off with the double points, non discardable Royal Southern September Regatta.

We have decided to only make the last event non-discardable (and double points), to try and create a little more leeway here... however we are hoping that most boats can commit to all of the events. We are looking to step up the social side of things for 2020 and really make these events special..... it is our intention to have some sort of dinner/party at all of these events.

5 out of 6 Events to count, last event at the Southern is Double Points and non-discardable.

What is a Performance 40?

A ‘Performance 40’ is a Cruiser/Racer around 40ft and will be defined by the below limitations, which utilises information from her IRC Certificate. Also known as a P40, the intention is for this to be a mostly 'Corinthian' Class, where family and friends get a taste of Grand Prix style Racing.

For reference a First 40 is at the bottom of the band and an XP44 is at the top of the band. This includes but is not limited to; J111’s, J122’s, J133’s, J121, IMX40’s, Grand Soleil 43’s, Arcona 41’s, JND 39’s, Corby 40's, Mills 39’s, Matt 12’s, Farr 40’s, King 40’s, Azuree 46’s etc.
